Zentangle Gems

Many Zentangle artists are drawing gems the last few weeks.  They are all over the Zentangle communities right now.  Here are my latest drawings of the gems.

Dylusion Spray Inked Tiles

Here are three of Zentangle Zendala's I painted by spraying Dylusions spray ink.  I first sprayed water on the tiles, followed by spraying blue and yellow Dylusions spray ink.  I let it sit for a minute to let the water interact with the ink and then I gently laid down some paper towels.  I did not leave the paper towels lay for more than a moment or two because the towels soak up too much paint.  I am very please with these colors.

Blue Zendala

Here is another blue Zendala.  I sprayed the tile with water, dylusion ink and blotted it with paper towel.  I am into the color blue lately because I was drawing ocean-like Zentangles on large round Zendala's.  I was really pleased with the way the dylusion sprayed tiled turned out, lovely colors.  I will post the sample tiles I sprayed, the colors are so nice and summery.

Mandela on Opus Tile

Just finished this Mandela on a Zentangle Opus Tile, 10-1/2 x 10-1/2 inches and a Sakura Micron Pen.  The top tile is drawn with no shading, the second tile has been shaded with graphite pencil.
This will be use as a possible class to teach.  The tangles used starting from the center.  No sure what the name of the center tangle is, if any, just a organic-like floral tangle.  Next is Pinball, this is my design.  Avreal, Isochor, Hybred, Betweed, "Nzeppel and Yew-Dee by Peg Farmer, CZT.

I have been working on some Mandella designs to present to South Side Brushes for a seminar I will be teaching them next year.  I like the format of this design, however, I want to change the pattern that is yellow to another tangle and I am not happy with the look of the colors.  The teal and orange need to be softened.

Zentwining

These Zentangle drawings are called Zentwining created by Lynn Mead, CZT.  This is a new tangle she has created and I wanted to play around with it to see how it worked.

Mandala Colored Pencil

A new mandala.  The design was made from a circle stencil.  Colored with Prismacolor pencils.
Looking at the first mandela, the white on the black and white bands did not look right to me.  So,
I added some crimson red to the white area's.  You can see the bands look more finished off by adding the color.

Flexigon Shaded

Here is the flexigon colored and then colored with shading added.  You can see the lower image has  more dimension than the first image.

My Flexigon

Yesterday I spent the day with Mary and Patti, learning to create a flexigon.  A flexigon is a narrow sheet of paper, we used 2" x 16", folded in such a way that when it is folded together, it can be opened to display three different sides.  You decorate each side.  The one above is my first side.  The top drawing is the basic black and white.  The black is micron ink.  The second image is the same picture painted with Derwent Inktense Color Pencils.  I see I need to shade the colored piece and after I will repost it.

Talavera Tile

This is my Talavera Tile I designed for the Tangle U 2015 exchange.   Unfortunately, the colors are not true to what is on the tile.  Where it looks brown and tan the colors are actually different shades of Orange.  Tangle U 2015 will be in Santa Fe, New Mexico this year.  I am really looking forward to the event.  I will be posting pictures and showing projects on my blog about the event.

Well, Well, Well

The Square One Challenge is to draw the tangle "Well".  Here it is and I am very pleased at how it turned out.  The other tangle in the background is called Fife.  The combination looks good together.
Well looks like it is woven, which is why I drew it this way.

Phroz Again

Hi-Liting

No Hi-Liting
After adding some hi-liting, see the difference in how the hi-liting makes the design pop.
There is some shading on the design done with a graphite pencil.

Phroz

Playing with Phroz by Lynn Mead, CZT. Added some Sand Swirl and dew a square border using brown and black micron pigma pen.  Phroz was penned with red and black ink.

Hawaii

While in Hawaii, I was inspired by the rolling waves  and beautiful botanicals everywhere.  The large flower like tangle on the top is a new tangle called Arukas, created by Molly Hollibaugh.  Arukas is becoming a favorite for me and I seem to be drawing many variations of this tangle.

Bi-Zen-Tennial Celebration

We are celebrating Laura Harms, 200th Challenge on her blog, "I am the Diva" blog.  Laura asked that we tangle a monotangle of a Mac'n'Cheese tangle.  I choose "Fassett".  Congratulations Laura on a success weekly challenge that we can all share and celebrate on a weekly basis.
