Earth (Amanda) Day The challenge this week is for Earth Day. Laura's Son, Chewie, renamed Earth Day as Amanda Day for whatever reason no one knows, so now we call it Amanda Day in Zentangle World. So here is my Amanda Day tile and I am quite pleased with how it turned out. I did something I don't always do and that was an excerise I read on www.zentangle.com today. Maria talked about how she can mindlessly draw on a tile without thinking of other things but focusing on what she wants to put on her tile. She begins with what she calls her mac n' cheese tangles, meaning her comfort tangles, that could be old stand by tangles that you always enjoy drawing. So that is how I began today, I thought of two tangles I really enjoy and away I went without looking at pictures or other tangles for inspiration, just going with the flow. I am pleased at how it tuned out and it was a relaxing experience. |

Three Rivers Art Council
Thank you TRAC for your Zentangle Basic invitation Monday. There were 15 people in attendance and most were new to Zentangle. The group was mixed in ages, young and young at heart students. I taught six tangle patterns, two which have not yet been published by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, creators of Zentangle. Above are the tiles completed by the students after learning the tangle patterns. Also, thank you to Barbara Kelly, the host for TRAC. Hope you all had a great time.

Hip To Be Square Challenge 113
Hip To Be Square is this weeks challenge from Laura, our Diva. She has presented us with a string challenge and one that I really love. It is fun to create border tangles and the possibilities are endless, beautiful and delicious. We are to create a square in a square in a square, how neat. This challenge is special for me because I am introducing my first tangle creation, I call it XO. My tangle is the tangle on the outside of the square, look closely and you will see x's and o's. If you take a look at the rest of my blog, http://distangleart.blogspot.com you will find my step out and two variations of XO. Hope you have a minute or two to take a look at my blog and I sure would like to know what you think.
Oh, one more little thing, one of my mandala's was selected to be in "The Beauty of Zentangle" by Suzanne McNeill and Cindy Shepard to be published in November. I am thrilled and honored that they asked me to contribute my mandala.

XO My New Tangle
Here is my first tangle creation, I named it "XO". It can be used as a border or filler and is easy to draw. Hope you like it and try it out. I would love to see your version.

Tuxedo Challenge 112
The Diva's Challenge was a tangle created by LeeAnn called Tuxedo and it was a tangle I have not used before. After practicing the pattern a few times, it was easy to recreate and it is easy to put it into the other tangles. Thanks LeeAnn I enjoyed learning your tangle Tuxedo.
