My First Twinchie

The tile on the top is a Reniassance Tan Tiles.  A brown, red and black pen is used and hilites are done with a Sakura White Gel Pen.
The second tile is called a Twinchie.  A twinchie is 2" x 2" in size.  I am presently in an Artist Trading Swap of Twinchies.  The one above is my first one.

Tangle U Ensemble

This is my ensemble for Tangle U 2014.  An ensemble is nine tiles with a printed string already on the tiles.  You number each tile on the back 1 - 9 and when you complete your tangle patterns in all the sections on all the tiles you exchange all but the middle tile.  You keep the middle tile and receive a tile from eight other artists.  Because everyone participating has the same string printed on their tiles you are able to line them up in order and put them in a frame, if you desire.  I will post the tiles after Tangle U.  Tangle U is a seminar get together to learn and explore Zentangle for Certified Zentangle Teachers.  We will be meeting in Portland, Maine at the Westin Spa Hotel for three days.

There are 53 ATC's for this Deck Swap.  I will receive 52 cards from other artists and the extra card will go to Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas.  There are many people in this swap creating two and three decks.  I stopped after one because of other commitments.  Hope you enjoy these cards.

My Valentine

Here is my entry for the Voght Visual Art Center February Show.  It will be in a white frame.  I painted the background and designed the painting using Shelly Beauch's design called Mak-Rah-Mee (the tangle that looks like a love knot).  I wanted to do a piece with Shelly's tangle and get a heart into because February is Valentine month.
I drew over twelve designs before I was satisfied with this one.  I used faber-castell color pencils for shading and hi-liting.  The shading color is Rose Carmine and White for the hi-liting.

World of Color Expo 2014

World of Color Expo 2014 will be held November 12 - 15.  The good news is that I will be teaching the two classes above.
www.worldofcolorexpo.com
I am excited to be a part of the first World of Color Expo by David Vernon.
The first class is an introduction to Zentangle® using the official Zentangle tiles
and Sakura .01 micron pen.
The second class is learning to create a Zentangle landscape using Zentangle patterns to create your scene.  The pen and ink is then painted using Derwent Watercolor Inktense Pencils.

DECK SWAP BEGINNING

Currently, I am involved in an ATC Deck Swap.   ATC means Artist Trading Card.  This is a popular art activity shared all over the world by artists.  Many Zentangle groups belong or create ATC swaps.
I have been in 5 swaps in the past year, this is my 6th swap.  So the ATC Deck Swap is a swap making 52 trading cards, same number as a deck of cards.  You can design them any way you want, meaning you can draw them in ink, marker, watercolor or other paint medium.  Some people will create 4 suits.  After starting, I had an idea for 4 suits but did not want to change course after starting.  Maybe if I join another deck swap I will use my idea.  Some of the people involved are creating two and three decks!  I am only doing one deck and I am half done. The large sheet is 11 x 14, if you click on it you will get a better look.  This is my pink and yellow sheet, it is ready to cut to ATC size.
The blue ATC's are from a large sheet.  I will post the other blue cards below and add other in another post.
